D.107 tarantella serverrename

Changes the peer DNS name and the external DNS name for an SGD server.

You can use this command to change either the peer DNS name or the external DNS name, or both of these.

For a standard installation, the external DNS name of an SGD server is the same as the peer DNS name of the server. You are prompted to enter the peer DNS name when you install SGD.

This command only affects the SGD server where the command is run.

Note

Before using this command, run the tarantella stop command to stop all SGD services.

Syntax

tarantella serverrename [ --peerdns newname ] [ --extdns newname ] [ --quiet ]

Specifies the new peer DNS name for the SGD server.

Use a fully qualified DNS name.

--extdns

Specifies the new external DNS name for the SGD server.

Use a fully qualified DNS name.

--quiet

Do not show on-screen messages during the renaming process.

When running this command, enter Y to proceed with the changes.

Examples

The following example changes the new peer DNS name to boston.example.com. The external DNS name is not changed.

# tarantella serverrename --peerdns boston.example.com

The following example changes the new peer DNS name to boston.example.com. The external DNS name is changed to www.example.com.

# tarantella serverrename --peerdns boston.example.com --extdns www.example.com
