Chapter 25: Working with Prefix Codes (WPFX)
Purpose: Use the Prefix file to specify the description associated with each customer prefix so that you can include the full description on printed forms. For example, you can set up a prefix of PRF with a description of PROFESSOR, and include the description PROFESSOR on a printed form such as a pick slip.
System control value: The system makes the descriptions in the Prefix file available, and validates your entries against them, only if the Validate Prefix (I27) system control value is set to Y.
If you choose to use validate prefixes, you cannot specify a prefix for a customer if that prefix has not been specified in the Prefix file. If a customer has an invalid prefix, you cannot create an order or catalog request for that customer. Similarly, you cannot make any other changes to the customer or maintain an existing order without also correcting the prefix. The correct can be to select a prefix from the Prefix file, or delete the invalid prefix.
For more information: See the Validate Prefix (I27) system control value for more information on prefix validation and the forms that support printing the prefix description.
