System Log Bundles

To help diagnose a situation that might exist, Oracle Customer Support might request that you collect into a single bundle certain logs and other diagnostic information. Then you can send the bundle to My Oracle Support (MOS) for analysis.

System information can be collected from the following sources and placed into the system log bundle:
  • Pilot hardware component

  • Controller hardware components

  • Drive Enclosure hardware components

  • Hosts

  • Statistics

  • Replication appliances

  • System configuration

When you create a system log bundle, you can indicate the extent of information coverage for each of the above selected sources. You can specify that all logs are to be included, or just the more recent logs. For the recent logs, you can specify the number of hours back in time for which information is to be collected.

You can also include in the log bundle the statistics and the existing configuration of the Oracle FS System. All log bundles contain the time and date at which the bundle was collected.

If you have an open service request (SR) and know the SR number, you can use that number in the log notes and send the bundle to the Call‑Home server. The SR number must be the first entry in the Notes field, followed by any other notes for that bundle. The log bundles that you send to Call‑Home will then be associated with that SR number with Oracle Customer Support.

You can send the log bundle directly to the Oracle server, or you can download the bundle and then attach that bundle to an existing SR in MOS. In either case, the logs are transferred securely using encryption.
Note: Downloaded log bundles cannot be sent directly to the Oracle server.
