Rename an FSPM Host

You can rename the Oracle FS Path Manager (FSPM) host by deleting the old host entry and renaming the SAN host that is running FSPM. FSPM creates a new host entry with the new SAN host name.

The FSPM host name contains the name of the SAN host that is running FSPM. To change the name of the FSPM host, delete the FSPM host and then rename the SAN host. FSPM creates a new FSPM host when you restart FSPM. Correctly renaming the FSPM host ensures that the Oracle FS System maintains the internal record of the FSPM host.
  1. Stop FSPM.
For instructions, refer to Oracle FS Path Manager Installation Guide.
  2. To view the list of SAN host entries, including the FSPM host, from Oracle FS System Manager (GUI), navigate to SAN > Storage > Hosts.
  3. Verify that at least one initiator is connected to the FSPM host.
  4. Select the FSPM host that you want to delete.
  5. Select Actions > Delete Host.
The system displays the FSPM host and any LUN mappings.
  6. Verify that the Delete mappings and initiators? option is not selected.
Because you did not select the Delete mappings and initiators? option, the Oracle FS System retains any mappings to the host initiators. FSPM uses these initiators when the system creates the FSPM host using the new SAN host name.
  7. To delete the FSPM host, click OK.
  8. Rename the SAN host on which you have installed the FSPM software.
The process for renaming the SAN host varies depending on the host operating system. Check the documentation for your host operating system.
  9. Restart FSPM.
For instructions, refer to Oracle FS Path Manager Installation Guide.

FSPM logs in to the Pilot and reports the new SAN host name. Then, the Oracle FS System creates an FSPM host entry with the new SAN host name. The FSPM host contains the host initiators and any LUN mappings.
