Consecutive Days Overtime

Organizations can require individuals to work a certain number of hours per week and a certain number of consecutive days within that week before being eligible for overtime pay.

For example, an organization specifies an overtime rule that requires an individual to work 40 hours per week and 3 consecutive days. Therefore, if an employee works 15 hours between shifts on Monday and Tuesday, skips Wednesday, but then accumulates 30 hours from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts, the employee qualifies for overtime because the employee has worked over 40 hours (15 + 30 = 45) and at least 3 consecutive days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
