Creating or Editing a Break Rule

  1. In Reporting and Analytics, click Labor Management, and then click Payroll Preprocessing.
  2. In Payroll Preprocessing, click Admin, and then click Break Rules Administration.
  3. If you want to create a new break rule, click Add.
  4. If you want to edit an existing break rule, select a break rule, and then click Edit.
  5. Update the following information, and then click Save.
    • Name: Enter the name of the break rule.

    • Break Duration: Enter the amount of time, in minutes, given for the break.

    • Paid Break: Select this option if this is a paid break. Leaving it deselected denotes unpaid break.

    • Minor: Select this option if the break rule applies to minor employees.

    • Auto-Schedule Breaks: Select this option to make the break rule eligible for auto-scheduling within the Scheduling application.

    • Available for Manual Schedule: Select this option to make the break rule eligible for manual scheduling in the Scheduling application.

      Oracle Hospitality recommends enabling this option.

    • Minimum Duration before Break: Enter the minimum amount of time, in minutes, the employee must work before being eligible for a break.

    • Maximum Duration before Break: Enter the maximum amount of time, in minutes, the employee can work before a break is needed.

    • Duration before Repeatable Pattern: Select this option if Minimum Duration and Maximum Duration before Breaks are repeatedly used throughout the day.

    • Effective From/To: Select the effective dates that apply to the break rule.
