Data Restoration from Tape (UNIX)
This
chapter describes the restoration of backed-up data from a tape. For help on
how to backup data go to Data Backup.
Restore
the backed-up data as follows:
- Insert the tape with the backed-up data in the
streamer of your computer.
- Change to the directory /usr/oscar/osc<Datum>/work.srv
- Enter tar xv6
- Decompress the tar archive by use of the command uncompress <Name>.tar.Z
- Enter tar xvf <Name>.tar.
Note:
- If a new program / release has been deployed
between the data backup and the restoration the data has to be converted.
This can be carried out by signing on as oscar and entering oscar convert in
the directory /usr/oscar/osc<Datum>/work.srv.
- All UNIX commands are case-sensitive.
- <Datum> in a directory name stands for the
release date of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS software.
