TopKey can be switched from
base level to 2 higher levels with the "fixed preset keys". The LED
of TopKey (visible behind the hole in the housing next to the PS2 input
connector for the PC keyboard) does not show which level is set. As from
TopKey firmware release KT_0401 level information can be programmed. This information is stored in TopKey
and is always transferred when the level is changed with a "firm preset
key". An application program which runs on the PC can use this information
to show the level of TopKey.
The level information is not
transferred if only "temporary preset keys" are used. In such a case,
TopKey returns automatically to the base level from the key following the
temporary preset key.
NOTE:
Programming of level information in TopKey means that the option of level
switch-over via the Shift left or Cntrl left key to another connected PC
keyboard is not permitted. This can be used if no higher level is required and
if no preset keys have been defined.
Click on line "Level
info" in menu "Process" to open the Assistant window "Level
information".
Select the level for which the
level information is to be programmed by clicking on the appropriate selection
range. This opens the entry line of this level. Keys "Arrow up" or
"Arrow down" can also be used to select the level. The standard
default is always "Standard level".
The entry cursor is set
automatically to the entry line of the selected level.
Enter the character which is
to represent the level information in the entry line. This character is
transferred 1:1 to the level information.
Enter function keys and key
combinations, if applicable (see " Entry examples" in the help text
of the dialog "Characteristics"). Use the appropriate buttons in
window section "Linkage" to enter the bracket. (The button
"]" includes the leading blank required).
Enter the function key
descriptor in the square brackets with the help of the selection list from
window section "Code word" by double clicking on the required
descriptor. (More details on the function descriptors can be found in the
TopKey documentation).
Enter the key combination and
cascaded frame keys by clicking initially on button "+". Use the
selection list in window section "Code word" to enter the function
key descriptors which are to be linked.
Enter the individual
characters via the keyboard after the link +". Set the cursor behind the
"+" in the entry line (see " Entry examples" in the help
text of dialog "Characteristics").
Enter the special
character * [ : twice if the character is to be evaluated as
a normal character (see " Entry examples" in the help text of dialog
"Characteristics").
Please note the colour
information of the syntax supervision during entry.
The same procedure applies
when information is to be programmed for further levels.
Then click on button
"OK" to confirm the programming of the level information.
Click on "Abort" if
no level information is to be programmed.
Please remember that the
keyboard layout should be backed up regularly to allow access to the stored
version if changes are made by mistake during processing.
