OscarPing

This tool can be used to analyze the maximal size of a datagram within a network. This command must be executed from the oscar ..\bin folder, because the libraries libbase.dll, libobject.dll, libsysCommon.dll and libsysSchema.dll are needed. Alternatively, the libraries can be copied to any  desired folder where the command will be executed.

Under Linux the libraries must be exist in the folder named in the library path, to execute this command.

 

The command "OscarPing" must be executed from the command line. The syntax is as follows:

This tool will send a ping request to an arbitrary port of an arbitrary process unit and will wait of an answer. This tool is waiting for 10 seconds of an answer.

If no response arrives at this time, an error message is issued.Otherwise a success message indicating the length of the received block is issued

Is the received block length smaller than the sending block, it is indicated that on the other system the environment variable NetCompression=1 is set in the oscar.ini e.g. oscar.def.

 

This tool is universally suitable for all versions of Oscar (the named libraries must fit for this tool) This tool can also be used to determine whether a connection to the OCM application or to an older 3.0 based project version with a defined data block length is possible.
