Key Fields

In each table of the database there is a field or a group of fields whose data uniquely identifies the record in the table. This is normally a unique identification number, e.g. the company number, branch number, and terminal number in the program Operator Maintenance. In the database language, this is called the primary key of the table.

The value of the key of each record in the table is unique . In each input mask of the application programs, the name of the key fields is in bold type.
