Remarks on program function

Basic data update can be handled with this program, i.e. new data can be programmed, other data can be changed or cleared. Stored data can also be displayed for information purposes.

It is often advisable to restrict access by operators to application areas (sales, stocks, organisation etc.) by selecting the frame of an application group (no., name) and then defining the group profile. This restricts access, e.g. data will not be added and/or cleared. The following can be defined:

which activities

can be accessed by which operator.

NOTE:

In the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application each POS terminal can be given its own profile. Activities on the terminal can be controlled and/or restricted. (Use program profile text to define the frame of the profile and then with profile restrict the access to lock positions, passwords, etc.)

Remarks on data fields

The following describes all options available for update of this basic data.

As with nearly all programs the following also applies here:

The entry mask in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application program may differ for this program. Some data fields may be missing.
There may be some defaults or firmly defined selection options for some data fields. These cannot be updated in the current program.
Fields with enforced entry defined are to be found in the entry mask as are fields where entry is optional.
If the data record is updated over several pages of entry masks the dialog window is reached by clicking onto the appropriate button with <Mouse key 1>.
The same procedure also applies to call up of another update program for this program.
In some cases you may find so-called "Switches" which are activated or deactivated by the user with <Mouse key 1> depending on the setting. Activated switches have a dark top, deactivated switches are lighter.

Appl.group

Entry range permitted: numeric, 1 - 99

Select the application group which has already been programmed as a standard feature.

The application group can also be defined as required. A free no. should firstly be entered for this purpose.

Name

Entry range permitted: alphanumeric, max. 20 chars.

This field is reserved for entry of the name associated with the number of the application group. The name entered can be chosen by the user, but it should provide information.

The name will be automatically displayed after call-up of the data record if changes or clear operations are to be carried out.
