Remarks on program function

The additional data for an application program can be updated with this program, i.e. data can be programmed, changed or cleared. Data which has already been stored can also be displayed for information.

This program is called up with Terminal - Terminal type - Profile(text) - Application profile.

The MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application also allows profiles for individual application programs to be created in addition to the profile for ECR functions on operator and terminal type level and the profile for Appl. groups. These can then be used to define access rights to individual update programs for specific operators and to block or delete individual objects (= buttons, entry fields, etc.).

Procedure:

The application profile is linked by defining the framework of a profile (profile no., profile name) in program profile text and then defining the profile by creating an appl. profile and controlling the access rights for individual update programs in the additional data.
Change to the update program Appl. profile add. via the button Appl. profile add. if certain objects (buttons, entry fields, etc.) are to be blocked or deleted for individual update programs or if they are to be inaccessible to operators with the profile programmed.

The graphics Profile organisation show the various prerequisites and options which are available in conjunction with profiles and access restrictions.

Remarks on data fields

The following description deals with all available options for update of this basic data.

As with nearly all programs the following also applies here:

The entry mask in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application program may differ for this program. Some data fields may be missing.
There may be defaults or firmly defined selection options for some data fields. These cannot be updated in the current program.
Fields with enforced entry defined are to be found in the entry mask as are fields where entry is optional.
If the data record is updated over several pages of entry masks, the dialog window is reached by clicking onto the appropriate button with <Mouse key 1>.
The same procedure also applies to call up of another update program from this program.
In some cases you may find so-called "Switches" which are activated or deactivated by the user with the <Mouse key 1> depending on the setting. Activated switches have a darker top, deactivated switched are lighter.

Profile no.

Entry range permitted: numeric 0 - 999

Enter a free no. in the key fields for a new profile.

Changes or clear operations are possible after entering the number in the key fields. If the number is not known, it can be selected with Search.

Name

Entry range permitted: alphanumeric max. 20 pos.

The name of the update program selected under Application profile is displayed in this field.

Form name

Entry range permitted: alphanumeric max. 20 pos.

Enter the name of the form for which changes are to be made in this field. If the name is not known, use Search to select the required data record.

Field name

Entry range permitted: alphanumeric max. 20 pos.

Enter the name of the object (= button, entry fields, etc.). for which the status is to be changed (on, off or dim). If the name is not known, use Search to select the name required.

If you do not know the names of the objects in a form, change to the update program Frame field with selection button Field name. The information provided details the various types of fields.

Status

Field with firmly defined selection options

Select one of the suggested options to set the status for the selected field name. Click onto the field and then select the status required for the selected field name with a second click.

The system offers the following selection options:

On = (this object is shown in the form).
Off = (this object is not shown in the form).
Dim = (this object is only shown as a less bright image and has no function)
