Remarks on the Program Function

The field/field descriptors in the menu are updated with this program. Please ensure that only text changes are made. This program should only be completed in exceptional cases. The following therefore does not describe all fields.

Note!

In this program, the internal program structure for menu entries in the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program can be changed or extended. Changes (with the exception of text changes in Menu text) to existing menus and the addition of new entries should only be done by an MICROS GmbH system supporter.
Addition of new entries becomes necessary when, for example, report chains are to be called up from selection of a menu button. This is described in Create chain report (comp. Also help text on Menu Name).
Changes become effective immediately if the window being processed was not active. If it was open, it should firstly be closed and then re-opened.

If the program is called up directly from the menu, the standard setting is that the screen mask is shown immediately. This is linked to Menu type Menu fields. Further fields appear on the screen depending on the menu type selection or fields are blended out.

Search for a text

Normally, the Search key (telescope) can be pressed in every field. This operation can, however, take some time as a result of the data volume. In some cases the message "To many records" can be displayed.
Solution:

Every entry made in the key fields (form no., field no.) shortens the search operation considerably.
The search help described under Search function (in particular: Search list with entry) can also be used in this program.

Remarks on the Input Fields

This paragraph will provide a short overview over the options available for updating these Basic Data.

Just like in almost any other program:

The Input Mask may be different in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program depending on the set-up of the application. In some cases some Data Fields may be missing.
Some input fields may contain default values or defined selection options; these cannot be updated.
The input mask contains some fields that require an entry and others in which entries are optional.
If the data record is updated via multi-page input masks, go to the Dialog Window by clicking on the appropriate buttons with <Mouse key 1>.
The same procedure applies to call up another update program from this program.
In some cases you may find that so-called "Switches" which - depending on the default - can be activated or deactivated with <Mouse key 1>. Activated switches are identified by their dark color, deactivated switches are lighter-colored.

Frame No.

Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 99999999

Enter the frame number in order to insert a new menu item or modify an existing one in this application window. If you do not know the number, you can also select the data record via the Search Function (here Search list with entry).

Note:

Changes should only be made by an MICROS GmbH Systems system supporter.

Field no.

Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 99999999

Every menu entry must be programmed in the system under a field no. which can be assigned several times but only in conjunction with a different form no. The uniqueness of a number stems therefore from the link to the form.

New forms are programmed from entry of a new number. If this is to be changed, the data record is called up from entry of the field no..

Menu No.

Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 99999999

Enter the number of the menu in which the changes are to be made. If you do not know the number, the data record can be selected with the Search function.

Menu name

Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max. 20 pos.

The menu names are the internal names of the menu item. If you do not know the number, the data record can be selected with the Search key (telescope).

Information on report chains:

If report chains are to be called up via a menu, the menu name must be identical to the report chain name (field: Report chain in window Chain report). Please ensure that both entries are spelt in exactly the same way.
