From version 3.0 of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application on, an alert system can be configured to send various system or user-defined events to a subscriber in charge.
In general, alert messages will only be generated if a Subscriber has been created in the system and the appropriate configurations have been carried out. The alert messages are generated by a permanent background process, the Alert Manager (cp. System -> Interface -> Application ->Alert Manager). For this aplication, a Process Unit of the "OscarClient" type has to be established. In the field Program Name, the name of the application "AlertManager" has to be entered.
Alert messages are stored in the database and can be viewed via the program System -> Alert. Alternatively, alert messages can be sent automatically to one or more subscribers, depending on the Alert type and the corresponding configurations in the field Information Method in the update program Subscriber.

Forwarding alert messages via E-Mail to a particular recipient requires simply selecting „E-Mail“ in the field Information Method in the update program Subscriber and entering the appropriate data in the fields "E-Mail Address", "SMTP Server", "SMTP Port" "und Sender".
This method is based on the forwarding of an e-mail to a particular address of a service provider (D1, D2, Quam, E-Plus...etc.).

Send an SMS message containing the text
"OPEN" to the D1 number 8000. By sending "CLOSE" to the
same number, you can deactivate the option again.
D2- (Vodafone)
Send an SMS message containing the text
"OPEN" to the D2 number 3400. By sending "CLOSE" to the
same number, you can deactivate the option again.
E-Plus
Send an SMS message containing the text
"start" to the E-Plus number 7676245. By sending "stop" to
the same number, you can deactivate the option again.
02 (VIAG Interkom)
Send an SMS message containing the text "start" or "+" to
the VIAG Interkom number 6245. By sending "stop" or "-" to
the same number, you can deactivate the option again..
With mobile phone contracts which have been made via a reseller, a different activation procedure might be required. In these cases ask your service provider.
