Data restoration from tape (Windows)
This
chapter describes the restoration of backed-up data from a tape in Windows operating
systems.
A
detailed description of a data restoration can be found in your Windows
operating system and Streamer documentations.
Restore
the backed-up data as follows:
- Insert the tape with the backed-up data into the
streamer of your computer.
- Click on the Start
button in the taskbar of your Windows operating systems computer.
- Select Programs
from the opened window. Another window will open.
- Select Streamer
Backup. By this, you open the screen page with the streamer
backup menu.
- Make sure (via Window)
that you selected Streamer Tapes.
The data backups stored on the tape will be displayed. Select the data you
want to copy back to the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application. You can restore the whole
data backup, single directories or even single files.
- Another window with the title Restoration Information will open.
Here you can define where the data are to be copied (old/new location on
your hard disk). Click on OK after
making all entries.
- The data restoration will be started. The
currently processed files will be displayed in the window Restoration Status.
- If the data restoration has been successful, the
message "The procedure has been successfully completed" will
appear.
- Click on OK,
the data restoration is now complete. Take out the tape (Functions -> Eject Tape).
Notes:
- If a new program / release has been deployed
between the data backup and the restoration the data has to be converted.
This is to be carried out by signing on as oscar and entering oscar convert in
the Oscar directory, e.g. /usr/oscar/osc<Date>/work.srv.
- <Date> in a directory name stands for the
release date of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS software (e. g. osc020597).
