Overview of groups and item groups

Groups allow you to associate users who have similar roles in a study and allow them access to specific areas of InForm functionality. Groups provide an advanced level of authorization. In order to perform certain activities, a user must both have rights to perform the activities and be in a group for which the activities are authorized.

The InForm application allows you to define and maintain different types of groups. For more information, see Group types.

When you add a new group to an InForm study, you must specify the group type, group name, and optionally a group description. After you add a new group, you must add users to the group. You can add users to a group:

The only way to remove a user from a group is through the Admin function in the InForm application. You cannot remove a user from a group using XML.
