A hardware load balancer routes requests from the Internet to either WEBHOST1 or WEBHOST2. The WEBHOSTs and their corresponding APPHOSTs are represented by two parallel columns divided into three tiers by horizontal firewalls. From top to bottom after the load balancer box, WEBHOST falls in the web tier, APPHOST falls into the application tier, and repositories and databases are in the Data tier.

Both WEBHOSTs contain a box labeled OHS. Both APPHOSTs contain a BI_SERVER and an Administration Server. The Administration Server for APPHOST2 is the same color as the background and outlined by a dotted line, while APPHOST1's Administration Server is grey and shaded to look 3D. APPHOST1 also has a green bubble labeled VIP0.

BI-SERVER1 and BI_SERVER2 belong to a WLS Cluster that is represented by a box that spans the gap between both columns to group the two servers together. Each BI_Server contains a green box labeled BI Publisher and a green VIP bubble. The VIP bubble is numbered one or two depending on the server's number.

Arrows from the BI_SERVER boxes link them to disks in the Data Tier. BI_SERVER1 points to one disk with JMS and BI Publisher Repository listed above it. BI_SERVER2's arrow bisects a green VIP bubble on the other side of the Data Tier firewall and points to a cluster of three disks grouped as Oracle RAC Database. Reports Data, Scheduled Jobs Data, and Enterprise Database is listed above the three disks.
