FAQ - What are Cut-off Dates and Cut-off Days?

Prerequisites

A Cut-off designates when unreserved rooms held for a block are put back into inventory.

Cut-off Date - sets a date to automatically release rooms back into house inventory during the End of Day routine.

Cut-off Days (rolling release) - sets a number of days before each night of the block to automatically release rooms back into house inventory during the End of Day routine.

Scenarios

Cut-off Date - for all room types

The Cut-Off Date is the last date rooms are held for the block. On that Cut-off Date, all unreserved rooms allotted for the block are released back into house inventory during the End of Day routine.

EXAMPLE: If you set a cut-off date for 7 days prior to the block's start date, when the End of Day routine is run on that cut-off date all unreserved rooms allotted for the block for all dates are released back into house inventory and the room/rate grid will show zero rooms available for the block.

Cut-off Days - for all room types

When you set Cut-off Days (rolling release), unreserved rooms allotted for the block are released back into house inventory that number of days preceding each block night during the End of Day routine. This process leaves block availability open longer to allow for last minute bookings.

EXAMPLE: If you enter a 7 in the Cut-off Days field, then seven days before the first night, rooms not picked up are released; seven days before the second night, that night’s rooms are released, and so on.

Cut-off Date / Cut-off Days - for specific room types or days

Cut-off for specific period, days, or room types

You could also set different Cut-offs for 1. specific date periods, 2. specific days, or for 3. specific room types of the block.

EXAMPLE: If you know you will have a high demand for Suites for your property, you may want to set an earlier cut-off date for the Suites room type(s) held for that block.

No Cut-off set

When a block is created and a cutoff date has not been entered, all room types for all dates receive the arrival date as the cutoff date.
