A Cut-off designates when unreserved rooms held for a block are put back into inventory.
Cut-off Date - sets a date to automatically release rooms back into house inventory during the End of Day routine.
Cut-off Days (rolling release) - sets a number of days before each night of the block to automatically release rooms back into house inventory during the End of Day routine.
- Each block can have a specific cut-off date, rolling release cut-off days, cut-off for specific room types, or no cut-off at all.
- Cut-offs can be set when creating a new block (Create Block train), in the Room / Rate Grid jump, or in the Room Details jump of an existing Block.
- When a cut off is set in the Create Block train > Room Details stop or in the Block > Room Details jump, it is applied to all room types that have inventory allocated to the block.
- When a cut off is set in the Block > Room/Rate Grid jump, it can be set on all room types or for only specific room types, and can be set on specific date periods (such as core dates) or on specific days of the block (such as Tue, Wed, Thu).
Scenarios
Cut-off Date - for all room types
The Cut-Off Date is the last date rooms are held for the block. On that Cut-off Date, all unreserved rooms allotted for the block are released back into house inventory during the End of Day routine.
EXAMPLE: If you set a cut-off date for 7 days prior to the block's start date, when the End of Day routine is run on that cut-off date all unreserved rooms allotted for the block for all dates are released back into house inventory and the room/rate grid will show zero rooms available for the block.
After the rooms are released,
- zero rooms are available for the block
- you can still add rooms to the block if necessary even after the cut-off date (Use the Room/Rate Grid > Edit > Actions > Load Room Grid )

Cut-off Days - for all room types
When you set Cut-off Days (rolling release), unreserved rooms allotted for the block are released back into house inventory that number of days preceding each block night during the End of Day routine. This process leaves block availability open longer to allow for last minute bookings.
EXAMPLE: If you enter a 7 in the Cut-off Days field, then seven days before the first night, rooms not picked up are released; seven days before the second night, that night’s rooms are released, and so on.
Cut-off Date / Cut-off Days - for specific room types or days

You could also set different Cut-offs for
specific date periods,
specific days, or for
specific room types of the block.
EXAMPLE: If you know you will have a high demand for Suites for your property, you may want to set an earlier cut-off date for the Suites room type(s) held for that block.
No Cut-off set
When a block is created and a cutoff date has not been entered, all room types for all dates receive the arrival date as the cutoff date.
