FAQ - What is the difference between a Rate Restriction and a Room Restriction?

Rate Restriction means that a restriction is set on a Channel rate code, Rate Code, and/or Rate Category. For example, a General Manager knows his hotel and other hotels in the city are reaching full occupancy and he wants to sell his last few rooms at a higher rate, so he closes out all rates except the higher rates (by setting the Restriction Type to Closed, unselecting the House Level Restriction, and selecting the discounted and promotional rates).

Room Restriction means that a restriction is set on a Room Class and/or Room Type. For example, there are too many of Room Type A being sold and not enough of Room Type B being sold, so a Closed Restriction is placed on Room Type A to remove it from Availability, forcing the sales to go to Room Type B (by setting the Restriction Type to Closed, unselecting the House Level Restriction, and selecting the Room Type B).
