Manage Export Codes
Export Mapping associates certain codes and values that are external to OPERA (such as general ledger codes or back office application codes determined by the property or the chain) to codes used in OPERA (such as transaction codes or package codes).
When export mapping is configured for an OPERA code, the export can include the associated information needed for processing by the chain or property. For example, when generating an export that contains financial information, a chain may require certain specific codes/values to be associated with the transaction code for such financial information. In this case, an OPERA transaction code might have export mapping attached to it. The mapping ensures that the financial information included in the export is assigned to the correct general ledger in the system receiving the export.
Configuring Export Mapping
- Use the Export Mapping jump to search for existing export types, codes, or mappings and to create new, edit, or delete export types, codes, or mappings.
- Use the three tabs at the top of the Export Mapping screen to configure export types, codes, or mappings. Perform the configurations in the following order:
- Export Mapping Types. Allows you to create, edit, and delete export mapping types. The export mapping type defined here is referred to in the export in order to include the values associated with the export mapping codes for a specific OPERA code.
- Export Mapping Codes. Allows you to define external system Export Mapping Codes for each Export Mapping Type.
- Export Mappings. Allows you to link Export Mapping Code(s) with each Export Mapping Type and assign specific values to the Export Mapping Codes.
How Do I . . .
Configure Export Mapping Types
Configuring Export Mapping Types/Codes enables you to create a type that is referenced in the export to the external system.
- Select the Export Mapping Types/Codes tab, then select New.
- When the New Export Mapping Types pop-up appears, enter the desired name and description of the export mapping type.
- Select either Transaction Codes, Package Codes, or Market Codes from the list provided by the down arrow, then select Save.
- Search by property for the new Mapping Type you just created, then select it from your search results.
- In the Export Mapping Codes section, select New.
- In the New Export Mapping Code pop-up, enter the mapping code that the hotel wishes to associate with the an OPERA code in the export. Add a description and identify the data type (options are a character, date, or number).
- Enter a Display Sequence number (determines the order in which the Export Mapping Code appears in the search results list).
- Check the Required checkbox if an Export Value must be specified for this Export Mapping Code when it is associated with an Export Mapping Type.
- Check the Use LOV checkbox if you wish to present a list of values for this Export Mapping Code when configuring Export Mappings.
Configure Export Mapping Codes
Configuring Export Mapping Codes enables you to define Export Mapping Codes for each Export Mapping Type.
- Select the Export Mapping Codes tab and search by property for an Export Mapping Type.
- When search results appear, select New.
- When the pop-up appears, enter a mapping code that the hotel wishes to associate with an OPERA code in the exports.
- Select an LOV Name from a list of existing Mapping Codes. LOVs and their values are configured within OPERA Administration.
Configure Export Mappings
After defining export mapping codes, the final step in Export Mapping is to link the export mapping code(s) to the OPERA code and assign the appropriate value to each export mapping code for that association.
- Select the Mappings tab.
- Search by Property for Transaction Codes, Market Code, Package Codes, Payment Methods, or ID Types.
- From your search results, select a Code, then select Edit.
- In the pop-up screen, search for an Export Mapping Type.
- Select a search result and enter an Export Value.
Note: Mapping codes that do not have an associated export value are not saved and will not appear in exports. If the "Required" check box was selected on the Export Mapping Codes screen (New or Edit), saving without an assigned export value produces the following message: "Warning: <code> is required and should not be empty."
