Displaying PC Manifest Batches (DPCM)

Purpose: Use the Display PC Manifest Download Batches function to review existing pick slip and call tag batches. This function lets you display the details of the pick slips or call tags or delete a batch of call tags.

If you are using PC manifesting, the system automatically submits call tag records as well as pick slip records to the manifest station. Your shipper may require information on call tags for billing purposes. See Processing Call Tags (MCTG) for more information on generating and printing call tags. See PC Manifest Socket Interface for an overview of how call tag information is transmitted to the manifesting station.

Field

Description

Date

The date you generated the call tags or pick slips.

Numeric, 6 positions (MMDDYY format); optional.

Time

The time you generated the call tags or pick slips.

Numeric, 6 positions (HHMMSS format); optional.

Range

The numbers of the first and last call tags or pick slips in a batch.

Numeric, two 7-position fields; display-only.

Count

The quantity of pick slips or call tags in a batch.

Note: If you are using pick label tracking, this quantity represents the number of pick labels in the batch.

Numeric, 7 positions; display-only.

Warehouse

This code represents the warehouse to ship the merchandise or issue the call tag. Warehouse codes are defined in and validated against the Warehouse file.

Note: The warehouse code is zero if the first pick slip in the batch has been confirmed and billed but not yet purged (see Purging Unused Pick Control Label Records (PLBS) for more information on purging pick control labels). However, if you are not using the PC Manifest Socket Interface, the warehouse code is blank if the first pick slip in the batch has been confirmed and billed.

Numeric, 3 positions; display-only.

Call tag (Unlabeled field to the right of the Warehouse)

This flag indicates a batch of call tag records. If you are using PC manifesting, call tag records are included in the PC manifest download. The PC manifesting system distinguishes call tag records from pick slip records by the fact that the Payment code field is set to T rather than C. See the Basic Data Layout for the PC manifest socket interface for more information.

Including call tag records in the PC manifest download makes it easier for you to convey call tag information to your shipper for billing purposes. See Processing Call Tags (MCTG) for more information on generating and printing call tags.

Alphanumeric, 8 positions; display-only.

Screen Option

Procedure

Delete a batch of call tags

Enter 4 next to a batch of call tags. You cannot delete pick slips from this screen; instead, you should void the pick slips if they will not ship. See Reprinting and Voiding Pick Slips (WVRP). If you are using the PC manifest socket interface, you remove pick slip records from the Manifest Download file when you void the pick slips.

Work with pick slips or call tags

Enter 5 next to a batch of call tags or pick slips to advance to the Display Picks in Batch Screen (Working with Pick Slips) or Display Call Tags in Batch Screen.

Resubmit a batch of pick slips or call tags

Enter 9 next to a batch of pick slips or call tags to resubmit the batch to the PC manifest station.

Note: This option is not currently implemented.

Combine batches

Enter 11 next to each batch of pick slips that you want to combine into a new batch. The system will delete the batches you have selected and create a new batch with the current date and time; however, the original pick control numbers will be retained.

Clear pending downloads

Press F8 to clear any download records in the PC manifest data queue (PCMANDATAQ).

Note: This option is not currently implemented.

Combining Batches

Purpose: At the Work with PC Manifest Batches Screen, use option 11 to combine batches from various days into one large batch to be resubmitted to the PC manifest station.

How it works: Use option 11 beside each batch to be combined. The system will delete the batches you selected and create a new batch with the current date and time. Once you combine a batch, you cannot “uncombine” it.

Considerations: The system will allow you to combine batches from multiple warehouses. If you ship merchandise from multiple warehouses, it is important not to combine batches from different warehouses. The warehouse code is displayed on the right side of the Work with PC Manifest Batches screen.

The system will also allow you to combine batches containing call tags with batches that do not contain call tags. You probably do not want to combine call tag batches with non-call tag batches. If the batch contains call tags, the words “call tag” appear on the right of the warehouse code on the Work with PC Manifest Batches screen.
