Generating the GERS Item Download File (GGID)
Purpose: Use the Item Download file to download item, SKU and vendor information to the GERS Point of Sale system.
The Item Download file can be produced in two ways:
• enter a date and select F9 at the GERS Download File Screen.
• run the periodic function Generate GERS Item Download. In order to set up this periodic function, use the function name GGERSDN and the program name INR1229. See Work with Periodic Functions Screen.
When you generate the GERS Item Download file, the system selects items that contain a Last change date that is greater than or equal to the date specified for the item download. The Last change date field is updated each time an item, SKU, or vendor item is created or changed.
If the item already exists in the Item Download file, the system overwrites the record with the current information.
If the item does not exist in the Item Download file, the system adds the record to the existing file.
Selecting SKUs for Download
The system selects SKUs based on the first 4 positions of the SKU code. If you are using split SKUs (the Split SKU Inventory (A26) system control value is set to Y), the system downloads SKUs based on SKU Element 1 only.
Example: You sell evening gloves in colors white and black and in sizes short and long. The SKUs for item GL1089 are:
• BLCK LONG
• BLCK SHRT
• WHTE LONG
• WHTE SHRT
When you generate the Item Download file, the system downloads the following records for GL1089:
• GL1089 BLCK
• GL1089 WHTE
