Types of Warehouses for Inventory Valuation

For the purposes of the Inventory Valuation Report, warehouses are identified as follows:

allocatable: a warehouse’s inventory is included in these totals if the Allocatable flag is set to Y and the Retail outlet flag is set to N

non-allocatable: a warehouse’s inventory is included in these totals if the Allocatable flag is set to N and the Retail outlet flag is set to N

store: a warehouse’s inventory is included in these totals if the Retail outlet flag is set to Y, regardless of the setting of the Allocatable flag

Note: A warehouse’s inventory is not included in the report if the Retail outlet flag is blank. Typically, this flag will always be populated, since the flag has been a required entry in warehouse maintenance since version 3.5 of CWDirect.

Valuation Starting and Ending Values

The system uses the Item Transaction Control file to determine the Valuation starting units and dollars and Valuation ending units and dollars. Before you run your first Inventory Valuation Report, you should initialize your inventory balance to ensure accurate reporting.

To initialize inventory: Enter IITC in the Fast path field at the top of any menu. The Initialize Item Transaction Control screen displays the following warning:

This function will delete all Item Transaction Control records for the selected company displayed above and build a starting balance based on the current on hand totals for all warehouses. No inventory transactions should be taking place while this process is running.

Press F9 to initialize inventory.

The first time you run the Inventory Valuation report after initializing inventory, the report will display a Valuation starting units and dollars of 0 and a Valuation ending units and dollars of the current on hand totals for each warehouse type.

After the first run of the report after initializing inventory, valuation balances for dates earlier than the date you initialized inventory will be 0. Valuation balances for the date on which you initialize inventory or later will reflect accurate inventory totals.
