Prompts Project Defaults

A prompt is a question presented to the user who runs the report. Depending on the answers the user provides, the report brings back and displays different data from the data source. The Prompts project defaults page lets you select whether to display all of your prompts on one or multiple pages in your reports.

The following project defaults are available for prompts:

View prompts:

    1. All on one page: Report prompts are all displayed on one page when the re port is run.

Each on a separate page: Each prompt in a report is displayed on a separate page when the report is run.

Always display required prompts first: Determine if required prompts are displayed before optional prompts.

Display Prompt Details in Report Page: Determine if the Prompt Details option appears in the View menu. The Prompt Details option allows you to open the Prompt Details panel, which displays information about the prompt selections you made prior to running the report.

Case sensitivity:

    1. Match case sensitivity by default: Determine whether the Match Case check box displayed in some prompt styles is selected. If selected, prompts are case-sensitive.

Report message:

    1. Allow renaming of the report/message from the prompt page: Determine whether users can rename a report as they are answering prompts in the report. The option to rename the report appears below the prompt questions.

Element import: For an attribute form qualification prompt, a text file containing pre-selected prompt answers can be created to be imported and used repeatedly for convenience. Adjust the following settings to customize how files are imported:

    1. Allowed file extensions: Specify the text file types that can be imported for prompt answer files. The default options are .txt and .csv. Separate each extension with commas (for example, ext1, ext2, ext3).

Maximum size of the files to upload: Specify the maximum size, in kilobytes, of the text files that can be imported. The maximum value is 999999.

Maximum number of elements to import: Specify the maximum number of attribute element prompt responses that can be imported from a prompt answer file.  The maximum value is 999999. The file must be written in a specific format so that it can be interpreted.

Note: Increasing these limits may slow down the response time. If you need to increase these limits, make sure you verify with your users that any increase in response time is within acceptable limits.

Object descriptions:

    1. Show Object Description: Determine whether or not to show the descriptions of the objects that are displayed in the prompt, such as attributes, metrics, and filters. If you select this check box, the descriptions are shown when answering the prompt.

Personal Answers:

    1.  Enable personal answers: Determine whether users are able to save their prompt answers when answering prompts in reports.

Custom Styles: Click Add custom style manually to create a custom style in which prompts will be displayed, then define the custom style as follows and click Add to add the custom style.

    1. Style name: Specify a name for the custom style.

Description: Specify a description for the custom style.

Prompt type: Specify a prompt type for the custom style.

Base Style: Select a style in which the prompt will be displayed.

Click Apply to apply the changes.

Note: Clicking Load Default Values will reset all options to their default settings.
