You can use the Select Objects dialog box to choose from a list available objects. For example, if you are creating a Metric Qualification prompt, you can select the metrics that users choose from when they respond to the prompt.
If you are creating an Attribute-to-Attribute report filter, you select the second attribute in the filter from the Select Objects dialog.
To choose objects using the Select Objects dialog box:
Do one of the following:
To browse to the location of the object you want, select the name of a folder from the Look in drop-down list. Objects and folders in the location you select are displayed in the Available list. You can click the Up One Level icon to display the folder that contains the currently selected folder, or click a folder in the Available list to view its contents.
To search for an object, type the name of the object in the Find field and click the Find icon . The Available list displays objects with names that match the search criteria. The search is not case sensitive.
You can search for objects beginning with specific letters, objects that match a search term exactly, and so on. Do one or more of the following:
To search for objects beginning with specific letters, type the letters you want to search for, followed by an asterisk (*). For example, to find objects beginning with Emp, type Emp*. Employee and Employee Age are displayed.
To search for objects ending with specific letters, type an asterisk (*), followed by the letters you want to search for. For example, to find objects ending with Center, type *center. Distribution Center and Call Center are displayed.
To search for objects beginning and ending with specific letters, type the letters you want to search for, with an asterisk (*) between the beginning and ending letters. For example, to find objects that begin with customer and end with y, type customer*y. Customer Country and Customer City are displayed.
To search for objects that match your search term exactly, type the search term in double quotes (" "). For example, to find the Customer State attribute, type "Customer State". Only Customer State is displayed, not Customer City or Customer Country.
To search for objects that match a search term with a specific number of variable characters, type the term you want to search for, with a question mark (?) representing each character you want to leave open for the search. For example, to find objects that start with three letters followed by Revenue Per Customer, type ??? revenue per customer. Min Revenue Per Customer and Avg Revenue Per Customer are displayed, but not Std Dev Revenue Per Customer. Each question mark (?) represents a single character. To search for objects without a specific number of characters, use an asterisk (*) instead.
Do one of the following:
If only the Available list is displayed, select an object from the Available list.
If the Available list and the Selected list are displayed, select the objects from the Available list and click the Add icon to move them to the Selected list. You can select multiple objects by pressing the CTRL key or the SHIFT key while selecting the objects.
Note: To remove items from the Selected list, click the Remove icon . You can also click the Add All icon
to add all the objects from the Available list to the Selected list, and click the Remove All icon
to remove all objects from the Selected list.
Click OK to save the list of selected objects and close the Select Objects dialog box.
