Viewing Encrypted Data

Some sensitive data such as account numbers is encrypted for security reasons, with temporary access limited to certain users. If you need to view the actual value for an attribute element that is encrypted, you can obtain the raw value by right clicking on the attribute in a report and choosing Decrypt from the context menu. Alternatively, you can look up the hash value, which is the unique identifier, by entering the raw value in the Hash Viewer. This can be accessed from the Tools menu. You can enter this hash value in the relevant attribute prompt for a report that has the information you need.

Note: In order to use these features, your user account must have the necessary Feature Security options enabled.

Decrypting Sensitive Data

To decrypt a sensitive data element in a report:

  1. Run a report that includes an attribute with encrypted data.

  2. Select the element that you want to decrypt and right click on it.

  3. From the context menu, choose Decrypt. This displays the Decrypt window.

The actual value of the element is displayed in the Raw Value field. The window will close automatically when the number of seconds on the pre-set timer expire. If you need more time to view the data, click on the Click here to keep this window open link to reset the timer.

  1. Click OK when you are done.

Note: If there is no encrypted value available for the selected item, the Decrypt window will display the following message: No encrypted value found. Unable to decrypt.
