Report Export Modes

Analysts can export reports in a variety of formats, such as HTML, Microsoft Excel, and plain text. Use report options to determine which formats a report can be exported to such as specifying a report be exported to Microsoft Excel and HTML, but not to PDF.

 

Users must have the appropriate software loaded on their computers to successfully export to that software. For example, to export a report to Microsoft Excel, the user's machine must have Excel software loaded.

Excel with plain text: This allows the user to export the report to Microsoft Excel, in .xls format. After the report is exported, the content of the report is displayed using the default settings in Microsoft Excel. The structure and format of the report as it is displayed in XBR Ingenium is not retained. For large report results, this export option is recommended over Excel with formatting.

CSV file format: This allows the user to export the report to a comma-separated values file (CSV). After the report is exported, the report content is displayed in a CSV file as plain text. This format is suitable for Microsoft Access and Lotus 1-2-3. The structure and format of the report as it is displayed on the screen is not retained.

Excel with formatting: This allows the user to export the report to Microsoft Excel, in .xls format. After the report is exported, the report displays with the same formatting, color, and structure that appears on the screen.

HTML: This allows the user to export the report to an HTML editor or browser, in .html format. After the report is exported, the report is displayed in an HTML page. The structure and format of the report as it appears on the screen is retained.

Plain text: This allows the user to export the report to a text editor, in .txt format. After the report is exported, the content of the report displays in a plain text page. The structure and format of the report as it appears on the screen is not retained. The user can choose a comma, tab, semicolon, or space to separate the fields of text.

PDF: This allows the user to export the report to an Adobe PDF viewer, in .pdf format. After the report is exported, the report content is displayed in an Adobe PDF file.

 

To define which report export modes are available to users:

  1. Run a report.

  2. From the Tools menu, select Report Options.

  3. In the Report Options dialog, on the Format tab, in the Available Export Formats area, select the format(s) in which the report can be exported. See the bullets above for which report types work best for an export mode, and what the user experiences with each export mode.

  4. Click OK.

When a user executes the report, the export formats designated are listed in the Export Options screen for the user to choose from.
