Properties dialog box, Document Properties, Export

The Export option of the Document Properties dialog box contains the following document properties, which determine how the document is exported. These are the options:

General

Export: For a multi-layout document, select whether to export:

All layouts: Exports all layouts in the document.

Current layout: Exports only the layout being viewed.

Expand page-by: Exports only the selected group element. To export the entire document, clear this check box.

Prompt user on export: Specify whether you are prompted to choose what to export. If this setting is not selected, then the Default PageBy export mode is used.

Excel

Embed images: Determine whether graphs and images from the document are included in the exported Excel spreadsheet as images. If this check box is selected, the images and graphs can be accessed offline from the spreadsheet.

Graph format: Select whether to Use Live Excel Charts or Use embedded bitmaps as the Graph format.

PDF

Include bookmarks in PDF: Specify whether bookmarks are generated for each element of each grouping field in the document. Bookmarks create a table of contents for the PDF. If the document is not grouped, no bookmarks are generated.

Note
: By default, this option is selected.

Show bookmarks in PDF: Determine whether the bookmark panel is displayed when the PDF is viewed. If the check box is not selected, the bookmarks can still be generated but they are not displayed automatically when the PDF opens.

Note
: By default, this option is selected. If you clear the Include bookmarks in PDF check box, this check box becomes unavailable.

Embed fonts in PDF: Define whether the original fonts chosen in the Document Editor are used to display and print the PDF, even on machines that do not have those fonts installed. This ensures the portability of the PDF.

Note: The fonts must be installed on the XBRi machine to ensure that the document is rendered correctly when creating and editing the document. The setting above ensures that if the fonts used in the document are available on the machine that generates the PDF, the fonts are embedded in the PDF.

Use bitmaps for graphs: By default, graphs are generated using vector graphs, which are much smaller and reduce the size of the PDF. They also improve the quality of printed graphs. Select this check box to generate graphs using bitmaps instead.

Use bitmaps if you want to use any of the following, which are not supported by vector graphs:

Background pattern (only the background color of the pattern is used)

Rectangular gradient (linear and circular gradients are supported; rectangular gradients are converted to circular gradients)

Texture and picture background (a solid white background is applied)

Use draft quality for graphs: Determine whether bitmap graphs are generated using a lower resolution, thus reducing the size of the PDF. The quality of the graph images on screen is generally not affected, but the quality of the printed graphs is impacted.

Note
: This option is available only for bitmaps, not for vector graphs.
