What's New?

This revision includes the following updates:

SMC 7.3 introduces a new XAPI security feature for client/server communication, enabled as a default in the SMC HTTP server.

  • See "XAPI Security for Client/Server Communication" for more information about using this feature.

  • Refer to the ELS Command, Control Statement, and Utility Reference for information about the following SMC facilities used to enable or diable this feature:

    • SMC XCLIENT command

    • SMC XUDB command

    • SMC XUDB Dataset

    WARNING:

To use SMC 7.3 as a remote client, you must perform the required setup tasks for both SMC clients and server. The SMC 7.3 XAPI security feature may be disabled at the server for all clients or for specific clients. However, SMC TCP/IP client/server communication will not function if you use the SMC startup parameters from a prior SMC release with SMC 7.3.

  • SMC now supports an XAPI client interface to an ACSLS server (Release 8.4 or later) with the XAPI service enabled.

See "XAPI Client Interface to ACSLS Server" for more information. Also, refer to the ELS publication XAPI Client Interface to ACSLS Server Reference.

  • Updated the SMC START procedure example to indicate REGION SIZE=0.

See "Creating the SMC START Procedure."
