Managing Cycle Counting for Siebel Consumer Goods

Before visiting outlets, van sales representatives must verify that the inventory on their mobile device matches the actual inventory in their van. Inventory is verified by performing a cycle count.

Viewing Cycle Counts

You can view cycle counts by using the Cycle Count list.

To view cycle counts  

1. Tap the Side Menu icon on the application banner, and then tap Cycle Counting to display the following:

   • The Cycle Count list in the right pane.

   • A list in the left pane in which you can select the related items for cycle counts.

2. Tap a cycle count in the Cycle Count list:

   The following table describes the fields in the Cycle Count list.

   Field Name	Description
   Status	The cycle count status, which can be one of the following: Assigned, Closed, Done, In Progress, Open, or Scheduled. Drill down on the link in the Status field to see the product information for the cycle count. For more information, see "Modifying Product Information for a Cycle Count".
   Inv Location	The location of the inventory associated with the cycle count. Drill down on the link in the Inv Location field to see the details of the inventory location for the cycle count.
   Due Date	The date that the cycle count is due.
   Start Date #	The cycle count start time.
   End Date	The cycle count end time.
   Comments	The cycle count description.

   
   

3. To view the related items for cycle counts, tap the following names in the left pane:

   • My Pending Cycle Products. Shows the cycle counts list, from where you can start and end a cycle count. For more information, see "Performing a Cycle Count".

   • Cycle Count Products. Shows the products associated with a cycle count. For more information, see "Modifying Product Information for a Cycle Count".

Performing a Cycle Count

Van sales representatives verify their inventory by performing a cycle count.

To perform a cycle count  

1. Tap the Side Menu icon on the application banner, and then tap Cycle Counting to display the following:

   • The Cycle Count list in the right pane.

   • A list in the left pane in which you can select the related items for cycle counts.

2. Tap a cycle count for the current date and time in the Cycle Count list.

   Alternatively, tap the plus (+) icon in the right pane to create a new cycle count.

4. Tap the Start button in the right pane.

   Tapping Start navigates the user to the Cycle Count Products view, records the start time for the cycle count, and changes the status of the cycle count to In Progress.

   For an existing cycle count that has not been started, drill down on the Open link in the Status field.

5. Tap the List Products button in the right pane.

   This populates the list of products for the cycle count by returning all products in the current van inventory belonging to the sales representative. This includes various product buckets such as Good, Defective, and so on.

   
   

   Note : Tapping List Products shows all products in the current van inventory belonging to a particular sales representative. This includes the various product buckets such as, Good, Defective, and so on.

   
   

6. Verify the count of stock in your van and then enter the amounts of each item in the Count column.

   
   

   Note : You can also use the Count UOM1 and Count UOM2 fields to capture the count of the physical inventory. These fields represent two units of measure that are related by Case Pack, which is a value that the administrator sets up. Updates to the Count UOM1 and Count UOM2 fields also update the Count when it is committed based on the Case Pack.

   
   

7. Tap Count Complete when you are finished entering the inventory amounts.

   The Cycle Count Product records are locked, preventing any further changes.

8. If there are products with variances greater or less than zero, then select those products and tap the Adjust button to update the inventory with the current count.

   
   

   Note : The Adjust button processes the selected records only. Use CTRL+Tap to select multiple records.

   
   

9. To finish the cycle count:

   • Tap My Pending Cycle Counts in the list in the left pane

   • Tap the End button in the right pane.

   The value in the Status field changes from In Progress to Done.

Modifying Product Information for a Cycle Count

Complete the following procedure to modify the product information for a cycle count.

To modify the product information for a cycle count 

1. Tap the Side Menu icon on the application banner, and then tap Cycle Counting to display the following:

   • The Cycle Count list in the right pane.

   • A list in the left pane in which you can select the related items for cycle counts.

2. Tap a cycle count, which has the current date and time, in the Cycle Count list.

   Alternatively, tap the plus (+) icon in the right pane to create a new cycle count.

3. Add new products to the cycle count as follows:

   1. Tap Cycle Count Products in the list in the left pane, and then tap the plus (+) icon in the right pane.

      Products that are in the current van inventory belonging to the sales representative can be added.

   2. Enter the information for the new product in the fields that appear, and then save the record.

      Only products that are in the current van inventory belonging to the sales representative can be added.
