Similar to a number look up (NLU), a screen look up (SLU) is a touchscreen button that gives workstation operators access to a list of items, except the workstation shows each item in the list as a separate touchscreen button. For example, the Open Check SLU shows separate touchscreen buttons for each open check within the revenue center. When a workstation operator presses a SLU (for example, appetizers), the workstation shows all menu items belonging to that SLU group. Typically menu item buttons are not added directly to a touchscreen, but instead menu items are usually linked to SLU groups.
