Innovative Strategic Project

Innovation Continues with JD Edwards 9.2 Upgrade

History: Innophos Inc. was a division of Rhodia (aka Rhone Poulenc) which was divested about 11 years ago. We stayed with their existing ERP system (JD Edwards World for Financials and home grown for all other functions) until Sept 2011. Innophos went live (with a team of Oracle consultants helping) in the midst of Hurricane Irene with EnterpriseOne 9.0.

JD Edwards and Oracle Footprint: Modules include full Financials, Production, Purchasing, Inventory, Transportation, Pricing and Sales Order Management. Add- ons include Demantra and DSI barcoding.

Upgrade Strategy: With such a large investment in the Oracle ERP suite, we vowed to stay current with releases and try to minimize customizing the software.

Success! We just upgraded to 9.2, tools release 9.2.0.3 on 08/08/2016.

Tips to share with you.. Some bumps along the way…

  • Baseline, ESU’s - should be up to date
  • Some indexes needed to be rebuilt
  • IE browser needs to be at 11.0
  • Migrating User Favorites and Grids
  • Auto Suggest disables auto fill on line below the field
  • Install printer fonts
  • Default grid size was 10, resizing was quirky, needed ESU
  • Grid import had a size limitation
  • Cursor focus too slow, needed a setting changed, Cursor tab-order was different

Next up: Several new functions caught our eye during the upgrade: Consignment inventory, Mobile apps if just for inquiry initially, JET and ADF framework, and the citizen developer suite: One View, Café 1, Watch lists, etc. 2017 should be another exciting year within IT partnered with our user community.
