Comparing items within a component

In some components, the Actions menu includes a Compare option to compare selected items.

1. Select the records to compare:
   1. Select the check box for each item you want to compare.
   2. From the Actions menu, select Compare.

      The Compare dialog displays with the selected items:

      

      When comparing records, the Compare dialog displays all attributes that display in the Record Details view. For example, a Results Table row may only display a subset of attributes in the component itself, but the Compare dialog shows the full set of attributes for the selected records.

      If the original items have been aggregated, the Compare dialog only includes the displayed data. The dimensions used for aggregation display in their attribute groups, and the metrics display in the Other group.

2. Optionally, select a baseline item:
   1. To select an item as the baseline, click the lock icon in the header row.

      The selected item becomes the first column in the list and cannot be moved. The lock icon is changed to indicate that the item is the baseline. If another item was previously selected as the baseline, it becomes a non-baseline item:

      

      You can drag any non-baseline records left or right in the display, to allow you to do a side-by-side comparison of selected records.

   2. To remove the designation as a baseline record, click the lock icon again.
      The record column remains at the left of the table, but can now be moved.
3. Reorder or search for relevant attributes to compare:
   1. Drag and drop attribute groups to move them up or down in the display.

      You can reorder attributes within a group, but cannot drag attributes to other groups.

   2. To expand or collapse an attribute group, click the group name.
   3. To expand all attribute groups, select Expand all groups from the Actions menu.
   4. To collapse all attribute groups, select Collapse all groups from the Actions menu.
   5. To search for a specific attribute, enter text in the Filter field.
4. Highlight the differences between selected items:
   1. From the Actions menu, select Highlight Differences.

      If you haven't selected a baseline, then the Compare dialog highlights attribute values that are different across any of the selected items.

      

      If there is a baseline, the Compare dialog highlights attribute values in non-baseline items that differ from the baseline values:

      
   2. To remove the highlighting, select Hide Highlights from the Actions menu.
5. To remove records:
   1. Select the check box for each record to remove.
   2. Select Remove Selected from the Actions menu.
6. To reset the Compare dialog to its initial display, select Reset view from the Actions menu.
