PowerPoint import allows you to create topics from PowerPoint presentations. This is often useful when you want to leverage existing PowerPoint files and integrate them with your learning content. You can import PowerPoint files from the Tools menu.
When importing, you can select the PowerPoint file(s), identified by the extension pptx. Old ppt format files are not supported. If you want to import such a file, you need to open it in PowerPoint first and save it as pptx.
To import topics from PowerPoint in the Library:
Select a folder.
Select the Tools menu, point to Import and choose Topics from PowerPoint.
Browse to the location where the PowerPoint files are stored (.pptx).
Select one or more files to import and click Open.
Click Import.
General rules of how PowerPoint files are converted into topics:
The topic name will be identical to the name of the source PowerPoint file.
Every time you import a PowerPoint file, a new topic is created. The library does not maintain a link between the topic and the source file. If you modify the PowerPoint file and import it again, a new topic will be created.
Each slide from the presentation is converted into an explanation frame. As a result, the topic will consist of explanation frames only. The frame delay of all frames will be set to the value specified in the context options. No bubble text will be added - this makes the resulting topic to play as a slide show in SeeIt! mode.
The imported topic can be edited in the topic editor just like any other topic. The original PowerPoint file is used as overlay for these topics and you can edit the underlying slides directly from the topic editor, using the Edit Overlay feature.
