If a web page links to style sheet, that style sheet is always used to format published output for the Player, HTML Web Site, and PowerPoint deployments. For document outputs that include web pages (System Process, Training Guide, and Instructor Manual), you can use the Web Page Format option to choose between using the Developer settings or Word Template settings. Web pages published with the Developer settings use the styles in the assigned style sheets or direct formatting if no style sheet is assigned. You can set the Web Page Format option for a document type in the Options dialog box or while publishing in the Publishing Wizard.

If a style sheet includes print styles, those styles are applied when you publish documents using the Developer settings. Before publishing, you can use the Print option on the Display list in the Web Page Editor to view your content with the print styles applied, or you can use the Preview list to preview the document in Microsoft Word or as an HTML web page (depending on the selected Output Format for the document type in the Options dialog box).

Note: If a style sheet is deleted, a warning message appears during publishing, but the content still publishes.

 Multi-user Considerations

• Authors can link to and publish with a style sheet for which they have List permission, but they cannot apply styles from that sheet. If you want to lock down the style sheet so that authors can apply styles but do not have the ability to modify them, assign the authors Read permission for the folder.
