The sound play modes assigned to a topic determines which play modes with sound enabled are available when a user plays the topic in the Player. New topics automatically have sound in See It! and Try It! modes enabled, but you can change the play sound mode for a topic after it is created.

You can view the sound play modes assigned to a topic in the Play Sound property cell in the Properties toolpane. You change the play modes for one or more topics by selecting or deselecting play modes from the Play Sound drop-down list. A short description of each play mode appears at the bottom of the list. You can also set the default play modes for new topics in the Topic page in the Options dialog box.

Warning! If you select multiple topics, the play mode settings you select apply to the entire selection, and overwrite any previous settings for that property. See Assign a Property to Multiple Documents for more information about changing play modes for multiple topics.

Note: If all of the topics in a multiple selection are assigned the same play modes, the modes appear in the Play Sound property cell. If the topics have different play modes assigned, the Play Sound property cell appears blank.
