After completing this topic, you will be able to copy and paste a document in the Library.
Steps:
We have modified the columns in the Details view to show the Document Id, Link Count and Links To columns.
We have also opened the Related Documents toolpane.
Step 1Select the document you want to copy.
Click the Inserting Dates and Objects section.
Step 2The upper pane in the Related Documents toolpane shows the child documents that link from the section. Those links are saved with the Inserting Dates and Objects section.
The lower pane shows the parent document that links to the section. That link is saved with the parent, the Editing Basics module.
Step 3Use the toolbar to copy the selected document.
Click the Copy button.
Step 4Select the destination folder in the Folders pane.
Click the Copies folder.
Step 5Use the toolbar to paste the document.
Click the Paste button.
Step 6Click the Inserting Dates and Objects section.
Step 7The Copy/Paste action created a new section.
Notice that the links saved with the new section (in upper pane) are maintained while links from other documents (in lower pane) are removed. If viewed as a hierarchy, Developer removes the link above the new copy and maintains the links below the new copy.
Note: In the Library, the Paste command produces the same results as using the Copy (selection only) option in the Paste Special dialog box.
Step 8Click the Horizontal Layout button to split the work area.
Step 9We have selected the Tools folder in the bottom work area.
Notice that the original section and the new copy have different Document IDs.
Step 10Rename the pasted document.
Right-click the Inserting Dates and Objects document in the top work area.
Step 11Click the Rename command.
Step 12Enter the desired information into the Rename field. Enter "Inserting Dates".
Step 13Press [Enter].
Step 14Notice that renaming the copied section did not affect the original in the bottom work area.
Step 15After completing this topic, you are able to copy and paste a document in the Library.
