Text styles, also known as character styles, apply attributes to selected text. Text style attributes include font, font size and units, text color, background color, bold, italics, underline, strikethrough, and border (width and color). For each text style, you can add a print style and multiple language variations.

Text styles apply additional formatting within elements, such as paragraphs, headings, tables, or lists. Since those elements have their own formatting, the text styles only change the specified attributes for the selected text. Therefore, if you apply a text style with a red text color attribute to selected text using a paragraph style formatted for an Arial 16 point, bold font, only the text color changes for the selected text. The paragraph has its own style that controls the entire element, and the text style formats only the specified attributes for the selected text. For this reason, you cannot set a default text style.
