After completing this topic, you will be able to check in documents.
Steps:
The Checked Out By column shows the documents checked out to the current author, THandsom. The Version columns show that all of the documents are New. A green checkmark next to a document name also indicates that a document is checked out to the current author.
Check in the selected document, the Creating a New Document topic.
Step 1Click the Document menu.
Step 2Click the Check In command.
Step 3Add a check in comment into the Comment field. Enter "Needs recording".
Step 4Click the OK button.
Step 5Notice that the version number changes from "New" to "1" and the green checkmark no longer appears next to the document name.
Step 6Check in the Document Basics module and related documents using the toolbar button.
Click the Document Basics module.
Step 7Check in the selected document using the toolbar button.
Click the Check In button.
Step 8When you check in a parent document, you are prompted to check in the document only or the document and all related documents.
Click the Check in my selection and related documents option.
Step 9Click the View related documents link to view the additional documents that will be checked in with the parent document.
Step 10Click the Close button to close the Related Documents window.
Step 11Click the OK button to check in your selection and related documents.
Step 12Enter the desired information into the Comment field. Enter "Reviewed procedures".
Step 13Check in the document so that your changes are available to other authors, but leave the document checked out to you for further editing.
Click the Keep checked out option.
Step 14Notice that the option to apply the same comment to all documents is selected.
Click the OK button to apply the same comment to all documents.
Step 15Click the Tools folder.
Step 16Select two documents and check them in with different comments.
Click the Inserting the Date topic.
Step 17Press the [Ctrl] key and click the Work with Views section.
Step 18Use the toolbar button to check in the selected documents.
Click the Check In button.
Step 19Check in your selection only.
Click the OK button.
Step 20You can apply separate comments to each document. You will enter a comment for the Inserting the Date topic but not for the Work with Views section.
Step 21Enter the desired information into the Comment field. Enter "Added explanation frame".
Step 22Only apply the comment to the Inserting the Date topic.
Click the Apply to all documents option to deselect it.
Step 23Click the OK button to check in the Inserting the Date topic with the comment.
Step 24The next comment applies to the Work with Views section. Leave the comment blank.
Step 25Click the OK button to check in the Work with Views section without a comment.
Step 26Notice that checkmarks are removed for the checked in documents and the version numbers have changed from New to 1.
Step 27Check in a folder.
Click the WP folder.
Step 28Check in the contents of the folder using the toolbar button.
Click the Check In button.
Step 29The Check In box informs you that there are other related documents that are not in the selected folder hierarchy. View the related documents.
Click the View related documents link.
Step 30The Printing a Document and Using Print Preview topics are stored in the Additional Topics folder. Check them in with your selection.
Step 31Close the Related Documents window.
Click the Close button.
Step 32Include the related document with your check in.
Click the Check in my selection and related documents option.
Step 33Click the OK button.
Step 34Check in all of the selected documents without a comment. Apply the blank comment to all documents.
Click the Apply to all documents option.
Step 35Click the OK button to check in the documents without a comment.
