Format Paragraph Styles


After completing this topic, you will be able to format paragraph styles in the style sheet.


Steps:

  1. The Document style is formatted for an Arial,  Helvetica, sans-serif 11 point font.

     

    We have added a paragraph style to the MyStyles style sheet. Since this is the first style for the paragraph element, it is added as a default style.

     

    The formatting that you apply to a default paragraph style affects all new and existing paragraphs of text in a web page.

    Step 1

  2. Add 6 points of before and after spacing to the style.

     

    Click the Spacing button.

  3. Enter the desired information into the Before field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "6"

  4. Click in the After field.

  5. Enter the desired information into the After field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "6"

  7. Create another Paragraph style and name it Notes.

     

    Click the Add Style button.

  9. Enter the desired information into the Style name field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Notes"

  10. Press [Enter].

  11. If you have set a default style for an paragraph element, additional paragraph styles are added as non-default styles.

     

    All new non-default paragraph styles inherit the settings of the default paragraph style.

  12. Apply italics to the style.

     

    Click the Italic button.

  13. Add a left and right indent of 30 points.

     

    Click the Spacing button.

  14. Click in the Indentation Left field.

     a valid value
     e.g.

  19. Add a 1 pixel gray border.

  25. The paragraph text is very close to the border. Add padding to increase the space between the text and the border lines.

  27. Add 3 points of padding to all sides. Enable the Use same for all option.

     

    Click the Use same for all option.

  28. With the Use same for all option, you only have to enter the value in the first field.

     

    Click in the Top field.

  30. Notice that the 3 Points value is applied to all of the options.

  32. Apply a light background color to the paragraph.

  36. We have opened the Page Setup web page. The MyStyles style sheet is assigned to the web page.

  37. Apply the Notes style a paragraph.

     

    Click in the second paragraph under the Margins heading.
