Replace a Style with Another Style

After completing this topic, you will be able to replace a style with another style.

Steps:

1. Create a new Heading 2 style and name the style H2.

    

   Click the Add Style button.

2. Click the Heading 2 list item.

   Step 2

3. Enter the desired information into the Style Name field. Enter

    a valid value
    e.g.
    "H2"
   .
   Step 3

4. Press [Enter].

   Step 4

5. Add a gray background color to the style.

    

   Click the Background Color button.

   Step 5

6. Click the Gray in the Web Colors palette.

   Step 6

7. Click the Ok button.

   Step 7

8. Change the text color to white.

    

   Click the Text Color button.

   Step 8

9. Click the White in the Web Colors palette.

   Step 9

10. Click the Ok button.

    Step 10

11. Change the after spacing to 2 points.

     

    Click the Spacing button.

12. Click in the After field.

    Step 12

13. Enter the desired information into the After field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "2"
    .

14. Click the OK button.

15. Save the style sheet.

     

    Click the Save button.

16. Switch to the WordPad Training outline.

     

    Click the WordPad Training tab.

17. The Properties toolpane shows that the Page Setup web page is using the MyStyles style sheet.

     

    The concept pane shows that the Blue Verdana Heading 2 style is applied to the Heading 2 elements.

18. View the concept for the Work with Views section.

     

    Click the Work with Views section.

19. The concept pane shows the Blue Verdana Heading 2 style applied.

20. The web page also uses the Blue Verdana Heading 2 style.

     

    Select the root of the outline.

     

    Click the WordPad Training module.

21. Replace all instances in the WordPad Training outline of the Blue Verdana Heading 2 style with the H2 style.

     

    Click the Edit menu.

22. Click the Replace Font command.

24. Select the style sheet containing the original and replacement styles.

     

    Click the Style sheet list.

25. Click the MyStyles list item.

26. Select the style you want to replace.

     

    Click the Style name list.

27. Click the Heading 2 - Blue Verdana Heading 2 list item.

28. Select the replacement style.

     

    Click the Style name list in the Replace with section.

29. The list shows styles of the same element type only; in this case Heading 2 elements.

     

    You can only replace a style with another style of the same element. For example, you cannot replace a Heading 2 style with a Table style.

     

    Click the Heading 2 - H2 list item.

30. A preview of the replacement style appears in the Replace Font dialog box.

     

    Because the Include related documents option is selected, the replace will search all web pages in the outline linked to the MyStyles style sheet.

     

    Because style sheets only apply to web pages, all of the Apply to options are unavailable, except Web page text.

31. Include web page text in the search.

     

    Click the Web page text option.

32. Click the Replace button.

33. Confirm the replacement.

     

    Click the Yes button.

34. View the activity log.

     

    Click the View activity log link.

35. The log shows how many replacements were made in each web page.

36. Close the Activity Log.

     

    Click the Close button.

    Click the OK button.

40. The H2 style replaces the Blue Verdana Heading 2 style.
