After completing this topic, you will be able to copy a link between outlines using copy and paste.
Steps:
We have changed to the Details view in the Outline Editor and added the Document Id column to the view.
Step 1We have applied a horizontal layout to the view.
In the bottom work area, we have opened the Basic Excel Skills module and expanded the outline.
Step 2Copy the Workbook Features section and paste it to the root of the WordPad Training outline.
Click the Workbook Features section.
Step 3Use the toolbar buttons to copy and paste the selected document to the WordPad Training outline.
Click the Copy button.
Step 4Select the location to which you want to paste the copied document.
Click the WordPad Training module.
Step 5Click the Paste button.
Step 6Expand the pasted document using the toolbar button.
Click the Expand button.
Step 7Notice that the Document IDs are identical in both outlines.
Using copy and paste between outlines links the content to another parent; it does not create new copies of the content.
Step 8In the WordPad Training outline, we will change the name of the Entering Text into Cells topic to Entering Text for you. We will also delete the link to the Saving a Workbook topic.
Step 9In both outlines, the topics are renamed to Entering Text and the Saving a Workbook topic is removed.
Both outlines link to the same documents. Any changes made to a document or to the content structure in one outline are maintained in each reuse of the content.
Step 10After completing this topic, you are able to copy a link between outlines using copy and paste.
