Oracle® Retail Merchandising Foundation Cloud Service

Release Notes

Release 16.0.029

F17189-01

March 2019

This document highlights the major changes for Release 16.0.029 of Oracle Retail Merchandising Foundation Cloud Service.

Overview

Retailers leverage Oracle Retail Merchandising Foundation Cloud Service (RMFCS) functionality to execute core merchandising activities, including merchandise management, inventory replenishment, purchasing, import processes, sales auditing, and financial tracking. Its Trade Management module is used to manage the import process, including automating the steps necessary to import goods, managing file exchanges with trading partners, and providing a central database of critical import order information.

Merchandising Foundation Cloud Service also includes Sales Audit and Pricing modules. The Sales Audit module evaluates sales transaction from all channels, identifying any missing, duplicate, or erroneous data and highlighting any suspicious transactions, to ensure errors are resolved so that downstream systems operate off the same cleansed sales information. The Pricing module provides the ability to define, maintain, and review price changes and clearances, as well as provides the ability to pass approved price events onto downstream selling systems for execution.

Oracle Retail Cloud Services and Business Agility

Oracle Retail Foundation Cloud Service is hosted in the Oracle Cloud with the security features inherent to Oracle technology and a robust data center classification, providing significant uptime. The Oracle Cloud team is responsible for installing, monitoring, patching, and upgrading retail software.

Included in the service is continuous technical support, access to software feature enhancements, hardware upgrades, and disaster recovery. The Cloud Service model helps to free customer IT resources from the need to perform these tasks, giving retailers greater business agility to respond to changing technologies and to perform more value-added tasks focused on business processes and innovation.

Oracle Retail Software Cloud Service is acquired exclusively through a subscription service (SaaS) model. This shifts funding from a capital investment in software to an operational expense. Subscription-based pricing for retail applications offers flexibility and cost effectiveness.

Client System Requirements

The following technology is supported:

Operating Systems

n            Microsoft Windows 7

n            Microsoft Windows 10

Browser Support

n            Mozilla Firefox ESR 52

n            Microsoft Internet Explorer 11

n            Google Chrome (Desktop) 55+

Functional Enhancements

The functional enhancements below are included in this release.

Item List Creation

A new option has been added for creating item lists in Merchandising that allows the addition of items from csv formatted spreadsheet. This is similar to the Upload List functionality available in pricing, where a column of item numbers can be uploaded to add items to an item list.

Auto Accept Value on Stock Counts

The Auto Process Stock Counts system option controls whether or not results from a stock count are automatically processed by RMFCS after a certain amount of days (which is controlled by the Minimum Between Count and Variance Day option). In previous releases, the options were Never, Units Only, or Units and Value. This enhancement would add a fourth option of Value Only, which would mean that once the unit portion of a Unit & Value stock count had been accepted for a subclass/location, the value portion will be automatically processed, removing the need for an additional acceptance step for users.

Arabic Translations

In the previous release, the ability to support Arabic was added, but the solution itself was not available in Arabic. In this release, the translated strings for the solution were also added, extending the number of languages fully supported in the application to 18.

Integration Enhancements

The integration enhancements described below are included in this release.

MFPCS Integration

The integration that sends transactional data from RMFCS to Merchandise Financial Planning Cloud Service (MFPCS) was enhanced in this release to add new inventory metrics. Several of the metrics which had previously been combined were also split into separate metrics for more visibility within MFPCS. The metrics added or updated include the following:

Separated Metrics

n    PO and transfer/allocation receipts

n    Deal income based on sales and receipts

n    Markdowns, markups, markdown cancels

Added Metrics

n    Intercompany markup and markdown and margin

n    RTV shipments and restocking fees

n    Transfers in and out

n    Intercompany transfers in and out

n    Reclassifications in and out

n    Franchise sales and returns and restocking fees

Book Transfer Service

A new REST service has been added in this release that will support creation of book transfers between locations where inventory is not physically moving. One way that this service may be used would be to move inventory from one location to another in the system in order to attribute the customer order "sale" to a different location from the one that is fulfilling the order.

Item Location Sales/Issues History

A new bulk data integration (BDI) flow has been added in this release to allow the sales and issues information that is tracked in RMFCS by week to be exported to an external system for reporting, forecasting, or other purposes. Each time this process runs, it will export the current week's sales/issues as well as any late posted sales/issues from previous weeks.

Misdirected and Completed Containers

In version 16.0, SIM introduced functionality that allows receiving at the container level. This resulted in two changes that impacted Merchandising.

First, SIM has the ability to send receipt information at the carton level, rather than just at the shipment level as in previous releases. This means that the former practice of closing transfers at the shipment level in Merchandising after receiving the receipt details is no longer necessarily correct. To remediate this, changes have been made in Merchandising and SIM to include a status of "complete" at the carton level so that Merchandising knows that a particular carton has completed and therefore it can be flagged for reconciliation regardless of the Auto Close Transfers to Stores system option setting.

The second enhancement is related to misdirected containers. If a container showed up at a store different than the one that it was originally shipped to, then SIM assigned a new carton ID, which Merchandising treated as an overage at the new location. With this patch, Merchandising will now receive the original carton ID from SIM as well, so that the wrong store receiving logic can be applied, if the Wrong Store Receiving system option is Y.

Technical Enhancements

The technical enhancements described below are included in this release.

Sales Upload File Handling

Functionality has been introduced in sales processing to provide more visibility to the number of files received and processed, such that you are able to validate that all the files sent from your POS were received and processed by RMFCS. This new feature will also provide better visibility to any errors that occur as part of sales processing. Tables where these details will be stored will be replicated to the data access schema (DAS) for monitoring purposes.

Note

This was originally included as part of the 16.0.028.8 hotfix.
