Release 18.0.002.3
F22761-01
September 2019
This document highlights the major changes for this release of Oracle Retail Data Extractor.
Note The non-sequential version number of this Oracle Retail application is intentional. |
Overview
Oracle Retail Data Extractor (ORDE) provides data extraction capabilities for sourcing data from various Oracle Retail application data sources into a flat file format that facilitates loading into the Oracle Retail Insights family of analytic applications.
The primary characteristics of the Oracle Retail Data Extractor are:
n Source Integration Solution: The Retail Data Extractor provides data integration with source applications such as Oracle Retail Merchandising Foundation Cloud Service (RMFCS).
n Performant ETL Code: The Retail Data Extractor data processing tool, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), offers high performance for the database batch processes on an Oracle database.
n Extensibility: The Retail Data Extractor ETL code can be customized and extended for client-specific needs.
Oracle Retail Cloud Services and Business Agility
Oracle Retail Cloud Service is hosted in the Oracle Cloud with the security features inherent to Oracle technology and a robust data center classification, providing significant uptime. The Oracle Cloud team is responsible for installing, monitoring, patching, and upgrading retail software.
Included in the service is continuous technical support, access to software feature enhancements, hardware upgrades, and disaster recovery. The Cloud Service model helps to free customer IT resources from the need to perform these tasks, giving retailers greater business agility to respond to changing technologies and to perform more value-added tasks focused on business processes and innovation.
Oracle Retail Software Cloud Service is acquired exclusively through a subscription service (SaaS) model. This shifts funding from a capital investment in software to an operational expense. Subscription-based pricing for retail applications offers flexibility and cost effectiveness.
Release 18.0.002.3
The following information highlights the major changes for Release 18.0.002.3 of Oracle Retail Data Extractor.
Functional Enhancements
The functional enhancements below are included in this release.
Sales Attribute Support
The RDE sales transaction extract has been enhanced with 20 additional fields that were already on XTERN_RDWT but were not interfaced to RI, such as sales_type and drop_ship_ind. Full column details have been added to the RI Interfaces Guide.
Batch Updates
The following jobs are added to RDE in this patch and should be validated in JOS/POM configurations as being enabled:
n CHKBATCHSTATUSSDE_JOB (chkbatchstatussde.ksh)
Additionally, the Purchase Order (PO) integration has been modified to be incremental instead of full snapshot, capturing only the PO records which have been updated recently. This will improve performance and processing times for purchase order data as RDE is no longer extracting every open order in each batch run.

The following information highlights the major changes for Release 18.0.002 of Oracle Retail Data Extractor.
Functional Enhancements
The functional enhancements below are included in this release.
Reference Field Support
ORDE has added fields to consume Sales Audit reference fields. A separate ReSA patch will be required for the sales extracts (RDWT and RDWF files) to contain the added fields. These fields will align to the SA_TRAN_HEAD, ITEM, DISC, and TENDER table reference fields.
Return Reason Codes
ORDE now sends the return reason codes from the sales transaction file through to Retail Insights for reporting.
Transaction and Register IDs
ORDE now sends the POS transaction number and register IDs from the sales transaction file through to Retail Insights for reporting.

Batch Schedule Changes
The Process Orchestration and Monitoring (POM) batch schedule for ORDE has been modified for six added jobs that will execute as part of the nightly batch cycle:

The clearance price changes require the 16.0.028.16 hotfix version of RMFCS (or later) in order to consume the CLRPC files from Oracle Retail Pricing Cloud Service (RPCS). If upgrading ORDE without RMFCS, then these jobs should be disabled manually before running any nightly batches.
Functional Enhancements
The functional enhancements below are included in this release.
Clearance Events from RPCS
ORDE will consume RPCS clearances published to the POS at the item/location level through a new job. In addition to having a complete picture of which items are affected by individual clearance events, this also includes detailed attributes such as the Clearance Group ID and Markdown Number. This functionality depends on RPCS updates to export the additional clearance pricing files to a specific location, and so should be coordinated with those services to ensure the necessary flat file extracts are available and enabled as part of nightly batch processing.
CFAS Integration for Items and Locations
ORDE now consumes CFAS attributes from the following sources in RMFCS into the new RI attribute tables for reporting:
n ITEM_MASTER_CFA_EXT
n STORE/WH/PARTNER_CFA_EXT
n ITEM_LOC_CFA_EXT

These changes have been included in the 16.0.028.16 hotfix version of RMFCS. If upgrading RMFCS without ORDE, then these jobs MUST be disabled manually before running any nightly batches.
Functional Enhancements
The functional enhancements below are included in this release.
Sales Discounts
The sales discount type code and associated descriptions are now loaded from RMFCS for use in RI sales discount reporting. The ORDE jobs listed above are used to capture the discount type dimension. Additional key values have been added to the sales discount integration to capture the promotion details and employee details associated with sales discounts in the RDWT file.
Salesperson and Cashier IDs
Salesperson and cashier numbers associated with sales transactions on the RDWT file are now being captured in ORDE and sent to RI for reporting.

ODI Tech Stack Upgrade
ODI Tech Stack has been upgraded from 12.2.1.2.0 to 12.2.1.3.0 for ORDE in this release. Release notes for ODI 12.2.1.3 are available here:

Functional Enhancements
The functional enhancements below are included in this release.
Item Diff Aggregates
Retail Insights now creates an internal level between Item Level 1 and Item Level 2, which aligns with the RMFCS concept of item diff aggregates. This level is constructed using the combination of differentiators selected as aggregates in RMFCS. For example, if Item Level 1 represents a Style and the item diff aggregate is Color, then reporting on the Item Diff Aggregate level is equivalent to Style/Color.
To achieve this functionality, the interface in ORDE has been enhanced to extract the Item-Diff relationship from RMFCS.
