11. Currency Denomination

In the Data Entry module, you can specify a break up of a transaction amount for Teller transactions by denomination. The system also maintains a break-up of the till balances by denomination.

11.1.1 Maintaining Currency Denomination Details

In the ‘Currency Denomination’ screen, you can maintain the standard currency denominations for each currency that your bank deals with. You can invoke this screen by typing ‘CSDDEMAN’ in the field at the top right corner of the Application tool bar and clicking the adjoining arrow button.

To maintain the denominations of a currency, you need to specify the following:

Denomination type Millionaire certificate is used to facilitate MC/LMC (Millionaire Certificate) transactions. You can have only one denomination with denomination type as ‘Notes’ and the currency code should be the LCY code of each country..

11.1.2 Operations Allowed in the Currency Denomination Screen

Following standard maintenance operations are possible in the ‘Currency Denomination’ screen:

11.2 Maintaining Denomination-wise Variance

You may need to apply different exchange rates to the same currency based on the denomination. You can maintain the variance in the exchange rate to be applied on the buy and sell leg of currency transactions using ‘Denomination Wise Currency Variance Maintenance’ screen. To invoke this screen, type ‘CSDDEVAR’ in the field at the top right corner of the application toolbar and click the adjoining arrow button.

Specify the following details:

Currency 1

Specify the currency pair for which the denomination-wise exchange rate variance should be applied.

The option list displays all valid currency pairs maintained in the system. You can select the appropriate currency code from the option list.

Based on the currency pair selected, the system displays the currency 2, which is the second currency of the currency pair.

Description of Currency 1

The system displays the description of the first currency.

Currency 2

The system displays the currency code of the second currency, for on the currency pair selected in the field ‘Currency 1’.

Description of Currency 2

The system displays the description of the second currency.

Denomination Variance for Currency 1

Rate Type

Specify the rate type for which the denomination based variance should be applied. The option list displays all valid rate types maintained in the system. You can select the appropriate one.

Denomination

Specify the denomination for which the variance should be applied. This should be the denomination of the currency selected in the field ‘Currency 1’. The option list displays all valid denominations maintained in the system. Select the appropriate one.

Buy Variance

Specify the buy variance that should be applied for the selected denomination and currency pair. This variance will be applied to the second currency when one unit of the first currency is bought against the second currency.

The buy variance must be specified in terms of points. It can be a positive or negative value.

Sell Variance

Specify the sell variance that should be applied for the selected denomination and currency pair. This variance will be applied to the second currency when one unit of the first currency is sold against the second currency.

The sell variance must be specified in terms of points. It can be a positive or negative value.

Note

In order to enable denomination based variance for a function ID, you must set the re­quired parameter to ‘Yes’ in ‘CSTM_BRANCH_LOC_PARAMS and FBTB_PARAMS’. You can set this parameter to ‘Yes’ for the following transactions:
