Configure Project and Idea Field Mapping Settings

Note: This topic is part of the Custom Idea Workflow: Example series.

To map certain fields from an idea to a project, a field mapping needs to be configured. By completing this step, the name, ID, problem, and evaluation score from the idea will automatically populate onto the project proposal created at the end of this example. However, you can choose to map any existing or configured field, such as business case, forms, dates, or more.

  1. In the object selector, select a workspace.
  2. In the sidebar, select Summary & Settings.
  3. On the Summary & Settings menu, select Defaults & Options, and then select Project.
  4. Select the Field Mapping tab.
  5. On the Field Mapping tab, in the table, select Add Field Mapping.
  6. In the Name field, enter Idea to Project Proposal.
  7. In the ID field, enter IP01.
  8. In the Source Object field, select Idea.
  9. In the detail window, in the table, select Add to specify a field mapping between project fields and idea fields.
  10. In the Project Field column, select the following fields:
    • Name
    • ID
    • Problem Statement
    • Evaluation Score
  11. In the Idea Field column, select the corresponding fields:
    • Name
    • ID
    • Problem or Opportunity
    • Evaluation Score
  12. Select Save.
  13. Select Close.

Note: The Evaluation Score of the Idea will populate onto the project proposal form as Read Only. The evaluation score of the project proposal is calculated with its own Evaluation Matrix.
