Add a Configured Field: Example

This example demonstrates how to create a configured field to capture information that is important to your organization. You can apply this example to any object that supports configured fields. Additional steps might be required depending on the type of configured field that you select. For information about configured fields, including available data types and restrictions, see Configured Fields Overview.

Note The available configuration options depend on the object and data type that you select.

To add a configured field:

  1. In the object selector, select Workspace.
  2. In the object selector, beside a workspace name, select , and then select View Summary & Settings.
  3. On the Summary & Settings page, select Defaults & Options.
  4. In Defaults and Options, select an object that supports configured fields.
  5. On the object page, select the Configured Fields tab, and then select +Add.
  6. In the table, complete the following fields:
    1. In the Column Label column, enter a name for the field.
    2. In the View Column Name column, enter the field name to use in reports.
    3. In the Data Type column, select a data type.
    4. In the Type column, select Manual for users to enter values, or select Formula if the field will be a calculated value.
    5. (Optional) In the Summary Calculation column, select how to calculate summary values for the field.
    6. (Optional) If you selected Text as the data type, enter the maximum number of characters in the Field Length column.
    7. If you selected Formula, configure the formula.
  7. Select Save.
