Automatic Decision Options Fields

These options appear when you select any automatic decision step on the Configure Workflow step of the Workflow Configuration Wizard. They control basic step characteristics.

Context Type

The kind of object that the step runs against.

Same as Workflow: The step runs against the same kinds of objects as the associated workflow.

Project: The step runs against projects and project proposals.

Portfolio: The step runs against portfolio planning periods and scenarios.

Change Order: The step runs against change orders.

Risk: The step runs against risks.

Budget: The step runs against budgets.

Submittal: The step runs against submittals.

Context Object

The specific project, project proposal, portfolio planning period, scenario, or risk that the step runs against. If you do not specify a context object here, the context object is the object that the workflow runs against.

Conditions Field

The field that the system evaluates to determine which exit option to choose in an automatic decision step.

Error Resolution

Specifies how the system handles errors on the step. Different types of steps support different error modes. There are two possible error modes:

Stop Workflow: When selected, any errors in the step automatically stop the workflow. The workflow log includes the sudden stop and the error that caused it.

Notify Manager: When selected, the workflow manager is notified of any errors in the step and assigned a task to determine how the workflow should proceed. The workflow does not continue until the workflow manager resolves the error.

Notify

Use this field to specify which users who are not already involved in the workflow should be notified when the task is completed. You can include any combination of users, groups, or roles.

Include Workflow Initiator

When selected, the workflow initiator is notified when the task is completed, regardless of whether the workflow initiator is also selected in the Notify field.

Preassign Notification Recipient

Use this field to specify whether the system or the task performer chooses who is notified when the task is completed.

If set to Yes, the system determines who is notified based on workflow configuration settings.

If set to No, the task performer determines who is notified. Which users the task performer can choose is determined by the users selected in the Notify field.
