Synchronize CBS Codes

It is possible for a project to use its own cost breakdown structure (CBS), separate from the corresponding workspace's CBS. This often happens when a project has been moved. In this situation, costs from the project do not roll up to the workspace level.

If your project has its own CBS, but you want its costs to roll up to the workspace level, you have to synchronize CBS codes. This enables you to take each CBS code in the project and either promote it to the workspace level or synchronize with an existing workspace CBS code.

To synchronize CBS codes:

  1. In the object selector, select a project.
  2. In the sidebar, hover over Cost and Funds, and select Cost Sheet.
  3. Select the Actions menu, and then select Synchronize Workspace CBS.
  4. On the Synchronize CBS Code page, for each row with a Sync Status value of Action Needed, use the Action field to specify an action.

When a CBS code doesn't have a clear counterpart at the workspace level, what you choose in the Action field determines how Primavera Cloud handles it. There are two options:

    • Move to a different CBS node: With this option selected, you can choose to which CBS node in the workspace you want to move the project CBS code. You do this in the New Location field. After that, the New CBS Code field shows how the CBS code will be named at its new node. For example, if you move a CBS code titled "code" to a different CBS node named "node," the New CBS Code value will be node.code. If you move a project CBS under a workspace CBS, it will remain a project CBS.
    • Promote to Workspace: This option simply promotes the project CBS code to the workspace level, where it can be viewed and managed alongside the other CBS codes in the workspace that contains the open project.
  5. After you've made your selections in the Action and New Location fields, Select Sync.
