Merge Log

The Merge Log displays information about the merge process for activities run from the Schedule Comparison page. It includes project information, start and finish times for the process, the status, the user who started the merge, a Results tab, and a Merge Settings tab. The Results tab includes any warnings that were encountered during the process that require attention.

A merge process that completes with warnings displays activities from the merge in two categories: Complete and Incomplete. Activities that were successfully processed and categorized as Complete are further categorized as Added, Edited, or Deleted. Any activities that could not be merged and may have triggered the warning are displayed in the Incomplete list with details about the activity as well as a warning explanation.

If the merge process fails, the Results tab is replaced by an Errors tab which provides more information about any specific error that caused the process to fail. The merge process might fail if, for example, the WBS hierarchy associated with the activities in the combined schedules exceeds the maximum limit of 50. To resolve the error, return to the Activities page or WBS page and de-select the activities with WBS levels that exceed the maximum limit.

The Merge Settings tab in the Merge Log displays settings specific to the merge, such as the two schedules being merged, the backup type, if any, and notes the user may have added for context prior to triggering the process.

Select View Log in the Notifications dialog box to display the log from the most recently run process. You can also access merge logs from the user Inbox or from the Manage Services page.
